The Open University Chemistry Society was formed in 1994, by a small group of individuals including Carole Arnold, Tony Brearton, Sally Jeynes, Michael Gagan, Jim Iley and Stewart Bennett.
Through communication using Touchpaper, a large community was formed. This has waned over the years as new students find commitment to visits and events too much, finding themselves under immense pressure to study and not play.
Though quiet recently, the OUCS is making a comeback.
